The first round of voting is open, and will remain open through July 4. (US-Pacific time, if you're planning to take it down to the wire.)

I know not everyone sees Twitter, so I wanted to repost this tweet about the xyzzy awards:

"Voting in the first round of the XYZZYs is always close in a lot of categories. YOUR VOTE IS A BIG DEAL."

Hopefully, since there are secondary "backup" votes this year it shouldn't be as big of a problem, but what will happen is one or two games will get more than one vote, then a lot of other games will tie with one vote each and cancel each other out. That's why one year there were only two nominees in the writing category in a year with (obviously) lots of great writing.

More or less, although the numbers are a little off; it's not a one-vote-each matter in the no-text-entry categories. At the moment, in a typical no-text-entry category, roughly 1/3 of the votes are going to 1-vote games, slightly more than 1/3 for games on track for finalist status, and slightly less than 1/3 to games that have more than one vote but aren't going to be finalists if votes stay the same.
