One challenge I had was this bit from one of the manuals: The bad news is that you must choose in advance whether your game will use the Web UI or the traditional UI. If you stick to the basic command-line user interface, the only difference is in compiler options, so you can actually compile the sa...

This is a really depressing thread. Or a clarifying one! :D I think it's helpful for people to know when something is dead given that the term "dead" means different things to different people. Inform 6 might be considered dead but it's entirely viable to produce games in, not least of wh...

Interesting. I notice on some games it doesn't show the status bar right. I tried Risorgimento Represso, for example, and the status bar on the right-most portion doesn't show up. Anchorhead shows the same thing but other games do not. It's also pretty weak on its display, such as with the box quote...

I'm a huge Infocom fan. I like ZIL. I think it's beautiful and would love to code in it, but I'm rabidly anti-Microsoft, so I'm not going to use ZILF. For what it's worth, I think the whole "rabid against Microsoft" thing probably needs to die down a bit. It's almost a decade out of date ...

Definitely no slight intended here but given how people often lament how much of Infocom's stuff, like ZILCH, is apparently lost to history, never to be fully recovered, it would be somewhat ironic if those who followed in its stead fell prey to the exact same situation.

Do people actually use this for classes? I'm not teaching anything but for kicks and grins I tried it out by adding an asterisk style comment within my source and the telemtry displays this: -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Inform 7 build 6M62: telemetry. Running on 2018-11-25 at 10:00. The user says: "...

The revival might have been short-lived, I guess. The Facebook group is still active but you have to want to be on Facebook for something like this. I'm not sure why that group wouldn't just post here more. The only tooling I know of for this is ZILF and while that's cool, it's in C#. I have nothing...

It looks like the source files are here: http://ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archiveXprogrammingXtads3Xsource.html Is there any compelling reason these couldn't be put on GitHub? I've seen people suggesting that "if only TADS was open sourced" maybe something more could be done with it. But it...

That's pretty nifty. One concern I have in general is who owns this "free public cloud service"? The whole gs.tads.io is cool but it has that sort of feeling of "it might go away." So as you state, if people want that extra bit of security, they have to set up their own game serv...

I feel alone, but I was excited when TADS 3 came with client-server webplay based on standard HTML and JS. TADS 3 does, I think, have the better system overall in terms of scalabilty. The problem is that it seems to have been largely abandoned and that happened before a healthy enough ecosystem sur...
