One advantage of Discourse which I've forgotten to ever mention is that it's designed around Markdown! I never want to type a BBCode style link again. Is that a big enough reason to change? :P Another pro for Discourse is the solved plugin which lets you select a reply which solved your problem: ht...

Discourse is very modern piece of software. I like some features, like cleaner typography without tables inside tables, even syntax colouring is there, that's really nice, however like all modern software there are some very annoying things about it preventing normal usage. For example something as ...

Specifically that bit about "advanced features of the conventional UI", which seems to suggest those might not always translate to the Web UI. If you only want to do Web UI, the double compilation thing probably isn't an issue but this is just one example that shows TADS might be a bit cl...

I know I'm ranting,... Yes, little bit. Recently there were some opinions floating around what technical features TADS desperately needs, such as offline JS interpreter (for whatever reason) and such - but what I think TADS needs are people who are willing not to talk in the forum about what TADS n...

When using Workbench under Windows add the resource folder by clicking in the GUI - whatever I do not know, but I'm quite sure there is some equivalent somewhere. I'm using frobtads and t3make to compile game from command line so for me it is little more straightforward.

One concern I have in general is who owns this "free public cloud service"? The whole gs.tads.io is cool but it has that sort of feeling of "it might go away." I'm not sure, I think Mike runs IFDB and storage server and a pool of game servers are probably run by various people -...

There were lots of discussion about ease of use of TADS webplay. Authors seems to want a way to allow players to play games on an author's own website so the game feels it is part of the site, right? Ideally one would like to embed game to some page, leave navigation accessible and tweak fonts and c...

Web technology is changing all the time, and unless TADS can keep up with it, I'm afraid it will go the way of HUGO and Alan. I feel alone, but I was excited when TADS 3 came with client-server webplay based on standard HTML and JS. I see potential in many areas, one of them that it seems to me mor...

Search for statusLine object in status.t library file for definition. You can modify it like: modify statusLine showStatusRight() { local s; /* if there's a score object, show the score */ if ((s = libGlobal.scoreObj) != nil) { /* show the score and the number of turns so far */ "<.statusscore>...

It's quite hard to point out an error in your code without actually seeing and testing your code ;-) But never mind, I don't know much about controlling scope, its quite low level stuff. Instead I'll show you portion from my own game where I have a cctv screen on which player can see a different roo...
