RealNC is right, dobjFor block is a shorthand for creating just an ordinary method. If you modify Thing and add a dobjFor, then every Thing derived object will inherit your method, which means your verify will be "copied" many times for each individual object including your sword and your ...

The exceprtion from your source code is incomplete, so it cannot be tested, but first what came to my mind is that you should call inherited whenever you override any method. Let's have a look on initializeThing() method on the Thing class: initializeThing() { /* initialize our location settings */ ...

I believe construct() is called only on dynamically constructed objects with new operator, but you can add your initialization in initializeThing() method. Daemon is not realtime so the last parameter is number of turns after which it will fire and not seconds. You can use RealtimeDaemon if you want...

This question is not clear enough to me, so I'll comment only some parts. Regular expressions are much like in any other language. For example this rexSearch will match contents of title tag which is saved into first capturing group. You can use rexGroup call to read this group like this: if (rexSea...

Yes, you can remap one action to another like on the same object like: dobjFor(Push) { verify() {} action() { "Something... "; } } dobjFor(Pull) asDobjFor(Push) dobjFor(Move) asDobjFor(Push) or remap action to another object (Learning T3 book, chapter 6.3.4): dobjFor(StandOn) remapTo(Stand...

I'm afraid they're not documented on one place but rather spread in different chapters. First of all there is Introduction to HTML TADS (http://www.tads.org/t3doc/doc/htmltads/intro.htm) where there are documented some deviations from ordinary HTML, because TADS implements only a subset in it's inte...

Generally speaking actions not involving objects doesn't have remap/verify/check, only execAction() method on action class. Processing of such action is much simpler because there is no object resolution and disambiguation and so on. In Learning T3 book is even an example of sleep action and this ac...
