trying to exclude details about an object from another room

having a syntax issue that I was hoping to get guidance on. so in source I have following which references the “Basement Door” :
(((( West Hallway near basement door is west of Dining Room and south of Basement Door

Basement Door is north of West Hallway near basement door and up from Bottom of Basement Stairs. The Basement Door is a door

The Basement Door is lockable and locked. The matching key of the Basement Door is the small siliver Yale key )))))

when I test the game… and get to the room “Bottom of Basement Stairs” , it is referencing the Basement door at top of stairs ( "you can see Basement Door here " ) :

Bottom of Basement Stairs
You can see Basement Door here

when in the room “Bottom of Basement Stairs”… I don’t want to see anything about the Basement door…
any help greatly appreciated

Your line “Basement Door is up from Bottom of Basement Stairs” places the door in that room. Does this do what you wanted?

Basement Door is north of West Hallway near basement door.
The other side of Basement Door is Bottom of Basement Stairs.
West Hallway near basement door is up from Bottom of Basement Stairs.
Down from West Hallway near basement door is nothing. Instead of going down in West Hallway near basement door: try going north.

thanks jrb ! this works perfectly
